DEAD BABIES AND SELFIES

Capture d’écran 2015-02-17 à 11.39.02Today, we’ve lurnt about the creepy victorian habit of taking pictures of dead babies.Yuk, GOOSE BUMP !

HOW CAN YOU TAKE A PICTURE OF A DEAD PERSON ?!

Besides, the person is dead so is it really « him »? As they say « It is still better than nothing! ». Because even if that person is dead, it is still a representation of him. You have a face to remember. In a way, photography gives the material to our imagination to remember.

With photography, our mind come alive visually. The picture can transports us combining time and space. Somehow you find yourself over there, with the people you love. You’re able to refeel and relive the moment.

The evolution of photography seems really close with this need. In 1888, Kodak creates the first camera that works with film and no more with photographic plate. Which means the client can bring the camera at the factory and get his picture for a pretty low price. « YOU PRESS THE BUTTON, WE DO THE REST » !

However, photography only gives an idea of the moment: it isn’t an exact representation of reality.IMG_6476

The same way the picture of a dead person isn’t the person himself, you aren’t really yourself on a selfie your posting on Facebook or Instagram. Social network reinforced our habit to take pictures: Before, you were taking pictures of your friends, lovers and vacations to remember. Now, you take the same pictures (probably more) but this time you don’t use it for nostalgia, you’re using it to define who you are. Does a selfie really define who you are ? Are you sure you’re mouth is this big? Isn’t this filter makes you a little different ?
The artist Philippe de Corsia took pictures of pedestrians in New York without them knowing. Thinking it was the more truthful way to catch who they really were.

I guess we should all ask him to make our new profile picture.

CRIME AGAINST DESIGN

IMG_6166We’ve just received our new project « Crime Against Design ». Our designated area is Moorgate. We have to look at BAD DESIGN.

How can you define something badly designed ? With my team we’ve inspected the all area. We chose to concentrate on the Museum of London. Poor Museum ! Ignored by the tourists, unknown by the londoners and visually lost.

Therefore, we’ll try to give him a new breath of air and a better reputation.

What I first thought would be impossible, actually isn’t. don’t they say everything can be save by a good communicator !

Don’t worry museum of London WE ARE COMING !

PRAISE THE ARTS

Entertainment became a complete part of our life: Think of the time you have spent listening to music, reading books, watching series, going to the movies…; and thus since the first story your mother told you before going to sleep.

The screenwriter Charlie Kaufman points out in his speach at the BAFTA that «  People are starving for entertainment ! » . Insomuch that we loose hours on the Internet feeding ourselves with « seconds of entertainment » on Vine and Youtube.

There was Art before any form of Economic or Political System. Why ? Because we need to be entertained,  we need to be amazed.

And WE creators, have the ability to serve this need.

We creators, communicate beauty, feelings, emotions, knowledge and awareness.

CREATION IS A SUPER POWER !

PRAY COLLAGE

And either you are a musician, a director, a screenwriter, a designer or an architect: you have that superpower.

The power of being listened every time someone puts on a movie, presses play, opens a magazine or a book.

We are talking to someone, somewhere, somehow.

Someone not born yet or who won’t be born for a hundred years.

Indeed, The Arts never dies:  Hansel and Gretel are 203 years old, Cinderella is more than 300 and the Joconde 512 years old. While politicians die, artists are celebrated all around the world.

We have the ability to change things.

THE ARTS ARE SUBLIME, IMMORTAL AND POWERFUL.

Consequently, Praise the Arts and Create.
